Welcome to Jim Sadler Music!

Jim Sadler is a local jazz guitarist and composer. He has been in multiple bands, rock and jazz. Jim is currently developing his own brand of original jazz through his influences of funk, blues, jam and jazz. He is recording his first record as a leader this spring with an anticipated release in the spring of 2017.

Jim has been playing and studying guitar for 20 years. He graduated Atlanta Institute of Music with honors in 1999. He has also studied with Dan Baraszu, and Rick Burgess and was a participant of the master classes of Corey Christiansen, Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic), and Lionel Loueke (Herbie Hancock). Jim Sadler graduated cum laude from Kennesaw State University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Jazz Guitar Performance where he studied with guitarist Trey Wright and played in several ensembles including KSU Big Bands directed by Sam Skelton and Wes Funderburk.

Jim and his band can offer multiple instrumentations including duos, trios, quartets, and quintets with combinations of guitar, bass, drums, saxophone and vocals. So, if you are looking for music that creates a delicate conversational atmosphere, please consider hiring us for your next event. You won’t be disappointed, we love what we do.

I have been teaching guitar and music since 1998. I continue my study of music everyday. I have many years of performance experience in most genres of music; from classical to folk, and from rock to jazz. I am always looking to book more students. There are many avenues of education that I excel at:

Privately in lesson studio - These lessons are usually weekly, but can be bi-monthly, or monthly as well. 30 minutes, and 60 minutes lessons are offered. The focus is on many different areas: songs in any style, technique, musicianship, improvisation, composition, music theory, scales, chords, and overall navigation of the fretboard. Private lessons can help a student prepare for an audition for high school jazz band, or for an entrance audition into university level study.

Rates: 30 Minute Lessons - $120 per month 60 Minute Lessons - $200 per month

Privately through Skype - These lessons are great for students that can’t travel to my home studio. Payment can be handled through pay pal, or through a credit card, over the phone.

The Jim Sadler Group

The Jim Sadler Group is the culmination of decades of performing, studying, and listening to a variety of styles. The driving force behind this outfit, Jim Sadler is a veteran of several bands and has musical influences between funk, blues, jam and jazz ( with a little bluegrass mixed in ). The group has their fingers on the pulse of not just the music of the current moment, but the atmospheric possibilities of the next.

J.S.G. was a featured performer of the 2012 Buford Jazz Festival, and has played many private events, charity events, parties and weddings. The instrumentation varies from gig to gig. This approach keeps the feel and the sound fresh and new. A soft delicate wash of melody to a cutting edge jazz-fusion jam with multiple time-signatures and syncopated rhythms that take you on an exploratory journey, the band simply can do it all.

As the groups main composer, Jim Sadler pulls from his influences of Phish, Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, Pat Martino, Trey Anastasio, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Joe Pass, Trey Wright, Pink Floyd, and many others.

Paul Vogler -

I have known Jim for over 10 years. First as a music student of mine and now I see him regularly as a professional musician. Jim has always been creative, hard working, and respectful. I give Jim the highest rating as a musician, teacher, and luthier.

John Fitzpatrick -

Jim is a musician solidly in the tradition of those whose work defines the uniquely creative art form we call jazz.

Paul Myles -

I have played for over 30 years. I selected Jim Sadler after careful consideration of advanced instructors. My experience with Jim has exceeded my expectations. My preliminary goals were met earlier than anticipated and Jim has been instrumental in reinforcing my knowledge and skills while leveraging my potential as player. The ability to take lessons online through Skype has made this as convenient and comfortable while never compromising what occurs face to face. I highly recommend Jim Sadler.

Martha Burgess Novak -

Jim Sadler is a great man and great musician. He puts bands together of any size and he did this for our wedding. His recommendations were perfect. His music was the highlight of the night. He also arranged all wedding music for us for the ceremony itself and made sure everything went beautifully. Jim is also a fabulous writer and I am asking him to provide music for some of the CDs and DVDs of my lectures. Jim will do the arrangement for the theme song for my seminars too. He is brilliant, works with deadlines beautifully, had marvelous suggestions. I know Jim to be a superior guitar teacher too. He is professional and patient, funny, warm, and personable, and absolutely inspiring in his love and appreciation of music. He knows so much, I learn a lot from him every time we talk. As far as the practicalities go, Jim goes above and beyond. Jim is always on time. The quality of his work is absolutely excellent. This is truly and unqualified endorsement of Jim Sadler. Not only is he brilliant professionally, but he is a dear man who cares about people, music, and the relationship between people and music. If you have an event, business or social, if you want a great, great guitar teacher, if you want more of an appreciation of music, if you want an ace studio musician, a band small or large, Jim Sadler is the greatest resource you can have.
